FY 2022 Applications Open and Coronavirus Relief Act

The Impact Aid Program is pleased to announce that the Section 7002 and Section 7003 applications for Fiscal Year (FY) 2022 are now available in the Impact Aid Grant System (IAGS). The deadline is Monday, February 1, 2021 at 11:59 P.M. Eastern time.  Late applications will receive a ten percent penalty on all payments arising from the application, so please file early.

On Friday, December 4, 2020 the President signed H.R. 8472, the Impact Aid Coronavirus Relief Act (the Act).  For FY 2022, the Act permits Section 7003 applicants the flexibility to use student count data from their reviewed prior year application, or apply as usual, using student count data from the 2020-2021 school year.  Section 7002 LEAs may submit the same reviewed application data used on the FY 2021 application, or apply as usual.

Training Reminder

We will be hosting several trainings in the coming weeks. The upcoming “Ask An Analyst” sessions provide an open opportunity for LEAs to ask questions and receive assistance on completing the application.

Early Payment Requests

If your LEA will require an FY 2021 initial Impact Aid payment before December 30, 2020 in order to meet operational expenses, you can now request an expedited payment through the Impact Aid Grant System.  Click this link for instructions.

Upcoming IAGS Maintenance

The Impact Aid Program is conducting maintenance on the Impact Aid Grant System (IAGS). As a result, IAGS will be unavailable to users from Wednesday, August 5th at 5:00 PM Eastern until Wednesday, August 12th at 6:30 AM Eastern.

After the maintenance window, the payment history page on the LEA record will be current and users will access vouchers for future payments in IAGS. For most LEAs, the next payment will be an initial FY 2021 payment after the fiscal year starts on October 1, 2020.

If you have not logged in to IAGS for over 120 days, your account may be locked. If you are unable to log in and unable to reset your password, send a message to the IAGS helpdesk to reactivate your system account.

Amended Applications Can Be Submitted Now

Does your FY 2021 Impact Aid grant application need to be updated?  It is a good idea to check your application to ensure all of your Federally connected students are properly reported.

If you need to make a change, you may amend your FY 2021 application from now until August 31, 2020.

We strongly recommend compiling your edits before you start the amendment. When you start an amendment, the Department of Education’s review process on your original application stops. The review process does not start again until the amended application is signed and submitted.

Late Submission Emails

The application submission confirmation email is incorrectly identifying applications as late if they were submitted between 7 p.m. and 11:59 p.m. Eastern time.  These applications are not late.

Here’s how to confirm that your application is timely filed:

  1. Click on LEAs on the top blue bar.
  2. Click on your school district’s record.
  3. Click on Applications (under your school district’s name).
  4. Click “View Application” for your FY 2021 application.  You will see your submit date and time at the top, under Submission Information.  This date will be in Eastern time.  Applications submitted on January 31, 2020 in Eastern time are timely filed.

  • Your username and password for IAGS are case sensitive. Enter them exactly as they appear on your account creation email.  The username and password you used for G5 will not work.  If you continue to receive a message that your username or password is invalid, your account may be locked or deactivated.  Call the helpdesk at 202-260-3858 to unlock your account.
  • If you have not changed your password within the last 120 days, request an account reactivation here.
  • CREATE or REACTIVATE the secondary user accounts for your LEA, with the correct permissions, before you start a grant application. This will allow the other users to access and edit the application.  A short video and user guide explaining how to create or reactivate secondary user accounts is available on the training page.
  • You can use the “help” tool tips (blue question marks) in the application to assist you.  If you would like to preview the instructions in document format, you can find them on the Resources page in the “Grant Applications” section.

Now Accepting IAGS Account Requests

The Impact Aid Grant System is now available to local educational agency (LEA) users.  You may submit an account request for your LEA’s core user now to gain access as soon as possible.  You only need to request an account for one user in your LEA.  This person must be an employee of the LEA with the authority to sign an Impact Aid application.  Once this person logs in, he/she will be able to create and manage accounts for two other users in the LEA.
